Victor-2-Dangerous Human Beings

The Most Dangerous Species on Earth: Human Nature

If you think which is the most dangerous species in the world and you came up with predators such as lions, tigers, bears, sharks, jellyfishes, or snakes, you are terribly wrong. Human being is the only species that slaughter their own kind for no reason or nonsenses like power. We are the only ones that have the potential to be hideously cruel and destructive to one another.

And why are we our own worst enemy? I think it has to do with psychological issues, but also we can see this behavior throughout history where there have always been wars between people, groups, towns or countries.

I am unable to understand how human mind can have a dual nature: on the one hand we are "animals" who regularly commit terrible atrocities against our own kind; on the other hand, we are horrified and shocked by all instances of murders, rapes and tortures we watch on a daily basis, and we have to struggle with this reality everyday in this increasingly dangerous world.

Furthermore, we are destroying our own environment. That's why I strongly believe that we need all the rules and laws we can do to control our behavior and we need to organize efficiently to protect us from ourselves. We are the only one and the most dangerous reasoning species so far... until we find a more intelligent predator.

Elaine-8-Humans

Humans: the most dangerous species?!

I think I gotta agree with the statement: humans are the most dangerous species on Earth.

I say this because no other species has created such a thing as atomic bomb to destroy its own species. No other species can even try to destroy the whole world in less than 1 day, but just humans are able to do it if we want! It is simple! Just grab a virus and spread it out by airplanes! Which other species could do it?

We think that we are progressing with our discoveries and creations… but most of them are just silently destroying our vital resources. Industries of all kinds are providing us with lots of conveniences, but at the same time, polluting rivers, air, devastating forests and so on.

The problem is that we think locally and on impulse. Our actions are not being sustainable. And it will lead us to our own destruction. But before this, we are going to destroy everything else we still have.  Do you still think that the term “rational animals” is the best term to describe us?

Michell-5-humansdangerous

ARE HUMANS THE MOST DANGEROUS SPECIES?

The answer for me is yes, there are lot of examples I can write about how human beings can hurt everything that is around them. Is unbelievable how we can't see the obvious.

We thing the earth belows us, instead that we belong to the earth, and we are taking big mounts of the things that the earth give us, for example we make the climate change, we destroy environments and hunt as many animals as we can and we can't thing about the consequences for us and for the new generations.

Moreover we don't only make damage on the environment, we also hurt others human beings. Someone can say that is our nature, but there is a lot of pain that we can avoid, and we supposed to be intelligent and know when and where and about what be have to be aware of and try to do things rigth, we make a storm in a glass of water and we care about things that is not important for the improvement of the world, and the improvement of our specie.
I don't want to be that negative, of course we have really good things like arts, literature and science that help us to have a better life, but on an other hand this science is making weapons than can destroys a completely country just with a blink of an eye. That's what we have to reflect about.

There are people dying for starvation, children growing in the middle of a war, people fighting because other one doesn't have the same religion, hundreds of teenagers watching their families turn apart, and we still making that is nothing happening!!

I think happiness is universal and before having a religion, education, social status o whatever we are human beings and we should try to accept the truth that we are just here for today and the earth is taking care of us, and giving us all the things that we need to be happy and stop making damage, or at least try to do our best!!

Olivia-2-New york subway accident

Photo fury over New York subway victim

Ki-Suck Han, 58, of Elmhurst, Queens died Monday afternoon around 12:30 p.m. after being hit by a southbound Q train at the 49th Street Station, police said. The victim was pushed into subway track after quarreling with homeless person.  Some witness said “The suspect was talking alone before Han came and they started fight suddenly” and he added that the victim tried to climb off the track after dropin out but he couldn’t do, eventually he faced died. Many picture and videos which related with this accident were posted in internet. Thanks to some videos the culprit was arrested on Wednesday morning. Although those pictures helped catching the suspect, it was shocking that in the video there were a lot of people in the station the time but any did not try to help him even though Han tried to escape the tracks. Everyone just took pictures and watched the situations.

This accident makes us think back about a sense of morality. How could they just not only watching but also taking a picture instead of saving the victim. If someone had helped Han he could have survived, there were enough time to saving him. They could have helped Han instead of taking picture!! Of cousre they worried about thier safety but it's too selfish  it was related in escaping death.

2-wendy -DOOMED !!!!!!

NY man killed when thug pushed him onto a subway track then train runs him over. NY Post prints shocking picture.

Today morning, I hearded some terrible news about what happended in NY. I couldn't believe it.
The train struck and killed Ki- Su c k Han, 58, as he tried to pull himself back up to the platform at the 49th Street station. Victim lived in the New York City borough of Queens. Seeing the photo, we can see the man who wants help from others. BUT, Nobody did. If someone just had given their hands to him, he could have lived ! Also, One took pictures 49 times with flash ! But he said that I couldn't help him, because he was too far from me. It is a poor excuse. He could have helped him instead of making flash. This news is big big issue to everyone now. Everyone says about this issue. But this happening was already finished. Because victim has died...... This happening shows  our egoism. We should think over our problem. If we leave many situations that are not related to us , the society problems will get  worse and worse than now. For example, if someone has died, we don't know that, even though someone lives next to your home. So, We have to change our attitude. We can start to try offering seat to the elderly. I wish we would. If we try that, the society will be  warmer and more friendly.

Elaine-7-Artists&Athletes$$$

Let's play the game of pretending?

I'll give you two possibilities... which one would you prefer for your life?

The Place for both scenarios - Brazil

-You are the youngest of 5 brothers. Your parents don't have a good financial situation. You have to walk 5 km to go to school every day and 5 more to go back home because there is no public transportation. Sometimes your parents prefer you stay home because it is too difficult to go to school and sometimes it is dangerous.
_______________________________________________________________________
1) But you think, regardless the difficulties, it is important to go to school to have a good future. So, you walk 10 km everyday and when you get home, you still study till late at night, even though it is hard to buy books by your own, because they are expensive. When you grow up you enter a good university, after all you studied a lot. Your dream is to be a teacher, because you want to help the educational system in your country. So, you keep studying and finally become a teacher! Well, at the beginning the salary is not so good, but you believe that it will improve. After 15 years doing the same thing, you don’t see any improvement neither in your salary nor in the system. And everything you can do is keep teaching by the year you are able to retire, at least more 20 years.
 _______________________________________________________________________

2) So, you agree with your mom and just stay near home playing soccer all day. And it is what you do during your whole adolescence, after all it is easier. When, by accident, a talent-scout sees you playing and takes you to play for a team. Your coach thinks that you've got a talent and “sells” you to a bigger team. You are doing well and achieve recognition quickly. People like your style of playing and it takes you to a European team. By the age 19 you are earning millions without ever having made any effort for it. In 10 years you have enough money to be able to retire and have a good life forever!

Mayra-1-Artists & Athletes

Why  Artists or Athletes get more money?

A simple question, which has a lot of answers;however,  the answers dependents on the point of view of each person.

In my  point of view; artist or athlete should earn a lot of money, because almost all of them have a lot of expenses. For examples they have to take care of their health, skin, body, hair, inclusive their security, so that kind of things are so expensive, they have to look very good all the time, they're in the public eye, they have to show an incredible image of themselves.

Look all the people who works in Hollywood or the famous Athletes, they have to spend part of the money they earn to have a good life, some of them only work for a few years, because the beauty and being young is considered one of the most important things in the entertainment industry,  in case of the actresses or actors, this is a disadvantages for them, because when they're old they have less work, and they have to rely on the money that they made  before. The same way is for the Athletes, they'll be working for short period of time before they get  old.

On the other hand,  because all these people earn  extreme amounts of money for only a few movies or only for some pictures in an important magazines and almost all of them spend a lot of money in many parties, shopping and expensive stuff that they will never use or wear again, they get into problems with drugs, alcohol and sex; some young actresses have suffered from  problems such as anorexia and bulimia, and they have been on the brink of death.

The artists and athletes  have to show a good image in the society, but nowadays they only show images where they are drunk, the actresses look so thin like a skeleton, and the young people, speciality teenagers are following these trends.

For that, I think the amount of money is fair, , I mean they earn a lot of money for making things that they aren't so important, and sometimes they give a bad image in  public;  there are people who are working all their life and they don't get a reasonable amount to live all their life. For example, the teachers and doctors, they spend many years, almost all their life teaching students and saving lives, they really are hard workers, however, their salary isn't comparable with the famous people, who only appear on TV.

                          Is it worth it??

Do you want to be a millionaire? Many people envy and sometimes  are jealous of artists and athletes who  are earning lots of money.  However their earning a lot of money is fair.
There are three points why it is fair.

First, they have spent most of  their time practicing to be their best , and they do their best to continue. Kim Yuan who is a South Korean figure skater is the 2010 Olympic champion in single said she has never participated in her school events because she had to  practice every day.
Next,  they should earn money as much as they can when they are able to  because their retirement is very early. For example, soccer players tend to retire between the ages of 32 – 35 so they should prepare for retirement.

The last point is that they are qualified to have rewards. We can enjoy high quality cultures and game  thanks to them! if some one limited them to make money it would decline thieirr morale , also this situations would lead to  fewer artists and athletes trying to improve their talents.

These are  the reasons why we should not criticize artists and athletes  who make a fortune. They have a right to  be rewarded for their talent.

Wendy-1- Artists & Athletes $

How can society be $$ well-balanced?

These days, Artists and Atheltes earn lots of money. But I think they shouldn't . I think they can get lots of money more easily than other people. Nomally, they even don't have to study  hard, because they spend their time practicing their play or something. But, most people have to study and work very hard to get a job. For example, If someone wants to be a doctor, He or She should study hard and also, they have to spend time for only studying. They don't have enough time to enjoy their leisure time. Supposing that they did, but that time, they'll be middle age.

However, Artists and  Althletes can make some money even when they're early 20s.
So, they also waste money easily. It is really a serious problem. Also, It has a bad effect on the society. For example, many teenagers want to be a celebrity. They don't want to study, also they think that celevrities earn lots of money easily. If most  people become Singers, Artists, and Athletes, there are no one   to do other jobs. For example, to teach students, takes politics like that.
I mean, the society will be unbalanced.
Moreover, most people want to spend their leisure time to watch  movies and games with freinds and family. But It  is really expensive because they don't have enough money to do that. Also, they think that they earn some money as as result of their hard-work and efforts. So, they don't want to spend money to buy expensive tickets. I think the goverment should do somthing to support this situation. For instantce, every Thuesday is special movie day in vancouver. People can get ticket  cheaper than other days.

Artists and Athletes make to much  $$$

Imagine how much you can do earning 50 million dolars in a year? Jennifer Aniston has to ask herself this same question , and she is only one of the hollywood actresses that make all this money in a year. Is unbelievable how much money is in the industry. It is fine and good for me as an artists but the thing for me is how we can get the world a better place with our artistic work.

The question is whether if they deserve it or not, I think it all depends on the type of artist and athlete, for example in one way, they have to prepare themselves and have to invest money and time to become something in the industry and become better artists, because  People are going to pay for that work and some work is fake.

Artists are a big influences on people and the public take all the art and artist as an example and I think it has to be all positive. Artist have to think  about  both sides of being an artist, they have the gift of doing what they love and also  the responsability of doing it in a good way.
Moreover, fame and money can be a bad combination for athletes because they need all their attention and time to be a good one, and some of them, when they get to the top start using drugs or spending all their money on cars and things that are not going to work in their future, and they have to think more about it because their usefull age is really limited.

Being an artist and an athlete is probably the most complicated professions in life because they have to leave everything behind  and focus on their job. The problem starts when they just want the fame and the money, or became puppets of the people that are behind them, well actually it doesn't matter what you do or love in life the most important thing is your contribution to the world, because if you are doing something true and something that works for you, you dont need millions or fame for it, just making  enough to live would make you happy!!!

Victor-2-Athlets and artists too rich

Valuing Important Things

It really isn't fair for celebrities to get paid  crazy amounts of money. I mean, why is that a movie star deserves 5 million dollars to make a movie that took 4 months of hectic acting, and/or a singer deserves 15 million for producing a 12 track album, but someone who has a master degree or studied for his or her whole life, is lucky if they get even 500,000 a year? It just shows how much we value being entertained over being healed, rescued or taught.

It doesn't mean that it's wrong for them to make a lot of money, even for the directors or all the staff that are involved in those kind of events, e.g., fight events, movies, TV shows, and so on; but when they reach all this money and fame all of a sudden, they don't know what to do with it, and they just spend all this in buying extremely expensive cars, mansions, and they also get involved in drugs because they don't need to be concerned anymore with making a living. Moreover, we also see many people involved working in these events and shows with very low wages. I mean, it's a need to find a balance in society paying less money to these celebrities and pay more attention to the less fortunate people. I barely hear a couple of movie stars supporting a fundraising or helping people, but what about the others?

For me, we need to be aware of this problem related to globalization, e.g., movie theaters are raising the cost of tickets every year, DVDs prices keep going higher and higher, but I don't think they need to, I think they just want to earn more and more, and that's unfair, that's why we have the problem of piracy. I believe that if they lower the cost of all these stuffs, they would still be able to support their industries and they would help the customers' economy as well.

Nick-24- Athletes and Artists too rich!?

MONEY, MONEY, MONEY MUST BE FUNNY IN A RICH MAN'S WORLD!!!

Think yourself as an artist for a second. You spend almost all of your time on arts, because once you choose arts as your profession, it becomes a part of your life. You can't simply leave it in your office and go home. It follows you wherever you go. You must improve yourself at every step in order to compete with your counterparts and more importantly you must have that touch of creativity. On the other hand, if you work in a business company, you have got office hours, you have got weekends off, you have got a generous pay check and a lot of free time. It is only natural for an artist to make more money because they give everything they have got to arts while somebody who works in an office job only spends half of their life working.

Now let's think about athletes. In order to become a successful athlete and to keep it that way you must train a lot. You can ask whoever you want and I'm sure that all of them will give you the same answer, it is really challenging to be an athlete. You must train everyday in order to keep your performance level at maximum, you must be extra careful with your general health and you have to participate in long games. Have you ever tried to play a basketball match for four quarters or any sports game for that matter? It is really hard to keep up with the game especially if you are a good player, because in that case your coach will keep you playing all the time. Just constantly running for hours is hard enough, let alone trying to do your best in the meantime.

Moreover, let's think about the dangers and job security for artists and athletes. They are insured of course by numerous companies but that doesn't mean that everything is safe for them. Think about hockey players for instance, they can cut themselves very bad with those skates or break their bones while trying to prevent the other team from scoring a goal. This, compared to office work dangers such as backaches and RSI, deserves more money. I've also seen actors and actresses who spilled their guts out because of a misplaced shooting fuse. This fuses are supposed to explode outward in order to create the impression that an actor or actress is being shot but instead they can also explode inwards and cause vital injuries.

Long story short, these people spend their whole lives in order to do arts and they are constantly working without any breaks or day off's. It is only fair for them to earn more money than the average worker because they do much harder work than them. Also they create something new out of nothing and they always challenge themselves to the very end. So if there is a wage/work ratio, I think that artists and athletes are earning what they deserve.not a penny more or a penny less.

Victor - Birth Shortcuts

A baby is a baby, no matter what!

First of all, I believe that a woman should have the right to make any decision about her body. It is hard for me to even imagine the hardship that a woman goes through when she gives birth and all the pregnancy-period issues and labor complications that come with it. Based on this foundation, I think that if the advances in technology allow women to have babies in different ways, why can't they take advantage of these alternative methods?

For me, considering to adopt a child is not a strange idea. I strongly believe that you can establish a strong parent-child bond with a child even if the child is not of your kinship, the affective feeling comes with the relationship. Of course, I agree that the older the child, the weaker the bond would be, but the point is, I think it doesn't matter how you choose to have a baby; moreover, it opens many possibilities, for instance, Surrogacy, when a woman agrees to become pregnant and deliver a child for a contracted party, In Vitro Fertilization which allows you to have a tube baby, or to induct an early due date in women in order to avoid birth-pain for them.

So, if my partner tells me that she wants to have a baby in any of these methods I would support her without any hesitation.

Elaine-6-birth shortcuts

Birth @ seventh month: why take the risk?

The medicine is progressing very fast and I think in some years in the future women will be able to give birth in the seventh month without any risk for the baby. If it becomes possible, I think a lot of women will choose to do so, considering that lots of them don't want to stop working just because of the pregnancy.

Even nowadays, women put their personal lives aside because of their jobs. Some of them even decide not to have children because they wouldn't have time to take care of them. But later, they realize that it was not really worth it and maybe the job was not as important as they had thought, because anyone can replace you at work, but , no one can do that in you personal life. And then, when they realize it, it is too late and perhaps they are too old to have babies!

Even if the birth in the seventh month were possible, personally, I wouldn't do it. Because, in my opinion, this is not natural, and if it is not natural, it isn't good! For me, two months is nothing when you compare it to your entire life. But, still, these two months are important for the baby, otherwise babies would be born in their seventh month. I would blame myself for the rest of my life if my baby had a problem because I had rushed the birth. So, why take the risk?

Michell-1-bucketlist

The top 5 on my bucketlist.

I have a lot of things to do before I kick the bucket, at fist I want to sing in front of a big audience in a big place, like a stadium and play with good musicians in an unplugged concert. I dream about this every time I listen and see a concert; it is so emotional for me, because I  can conect to the artists and see how  they are enjoying their performance.
Moreover, I really want to travel and know more about other cultures, because I think that makes me a better person and  understand what  life is  about; I have always wanted to go to New York city, since I was a child and visit broadway and watch all the musicals that were playing there, so New York would be the first place to visit.  Also I want to go to Paris and drink a good bottle of wine just at the Eiffel Tower and be able to speak and understand french.

Theater is one of my favorite things in life, so another item on my list is working in a really big theater and acting in an awesome play.

Another goal I  have  is to meet someone really interesting that can leave me speechless. He or she doesn't have to be someone famous or rich, but someone smart enough to teach interesting things. Also,  I want to find a man and share a true love story just like Mr. Darcy in  Jane Austen's book. Someone that change my life and my vision of love; this is one of the hardest thing on my bucketlist, but I'm super enthusiastic to realize this dream!.

These are just a few things I want to do and they are not going to change easily, but there are  a lot of things to do in life and they can change with  time and with the opportunites life brings. We all have an idea what we want to do and we need something to persuit and to hold on , something or someone to bring flavour to our lives. Remember if you can do something today and now, do it!! you never know if its the last time you are going to be able to do it!!! say what you need to say, and have the courage to persuit your dreams!! I'm too young but wise enough to know that 'today' is what we  have, so make plans and forget and forgive the past,; let life be!!

Victor-2-BucketList

It's hard to think about "the top 5" on my bucket list. There is a lot of things that I promise myself that I'm going to do or achieve before I get too old to do or before "I kick the bucket", however, it's hard to put and order them on a list. But let's give it a try!

I love to travel, so, I'd like to visit as many countries as possible, know about the cultures of these countries. Now that I'm studying with people from many other countries, I'm very interested to know about their cultures and traditions, and also to visit as many as historical buildings as I can.

I like languages too, so another goal that I have in mind is learning other languages besides English. I'd like to learn French, Portuguese and a challenging language like Japanese because I love Japanese animation.

In my professional field, Systems Engineering, there are a lot of branches related to each other. Digital Animation has always been appealed to me, and I'd like to make an animation movie or work in that field for a while at some point of my life.

I've always liked sports, and I'd like to take up  one seriously or try at least  a few of them once, for instance tennis, squash, skiing, snowboarding, sky-diving, ice-climbing, scuba-diving, snorkeling, water rafting, horseback riding, archery or flying in a hot-air balloon.

Last but not least, I want to make a difference in someone’s life, do some kind deeds without expecting anything in return such as being a mentor to someone, offering my services to a humanitarian cause, giving a candid surprise to my wife, my parents or someone else.

I try to remind myself that if I lived everyday as if it were the last day of my life, I would make a difference in the lives of many people, and that is what I try not to forget. I just want to finish with these words from John Lennon that I like: Life is what happens to you while you are busy making other plans.

Elaine-4-BucketList

I haven't thought about my bucket list yet!I guess I'm still young, so... better late than never!
You know, one of my big dreams is to be a mom! And I wish so many things for my sons...  So, I'm gonna do the list of the things that my sons should do and Uh, I guess many of these things might work for me too!
First, I want them to know how to play a musical instrument. It is like having a soundtrack of your life, isns't it great? Also, I consider it important and fun to learn a martial art. It will give them a good sense of defense and justice!
Later, I want them to live in a very different country from the one they were born. It will allow them to have another view of life! And when they are adults and have settled down, it would a good idea to try/learn other things than their jobs, which they already know how to do. This is good to keep them with their mind open! And the last but not the least, they should try the maximum possible number of different kinds of food! After all, eating is one of the biggest pleasures in life!

That's it, guys!! Let's get started?!!

William - Bucket list

Bucket list - Top five!!

Sooner or later you're going to die. So, what is special in your life? What kind of thing you must do before kicking the bucket? Well, I already have my list. Let's see how many of these things I will be able to do before Mr. Dead comes after me.

First of all I would like to sail around the world. I love ocean and I'm a boat addict. There's nothing better than getting a boat and sailing the ocean. This is definitely the first item on my list.

The second one is an another huge travel. But this time, it's going to be on my motorcycle. Not only travelling around South America, like I did in the past, but going from West to East, crossing countries and knowing tons of different people and cultures. It could be amazing!

After these crazy trips, if I survive, I would like to learn how to play the guitar. Since I was a child I've been seeing those famous guitar players and I always have had a feeling that one day I could be one of them.

Another goal that I am chasing now, it's to become a fluent English speaker. It's not easy as it seems. Learning another language demands a lot of effort, and sometimes you might think about giving it up, but I'm doing my best to achieve this goal.

Last but not least, everyone in the world should try skydiving. Such a great feeling of freedom. Nothing compares to being free in the sky, flying around without any concern.

After doing all these things, I think I can die happily with joy in my heart!

Infants, the only "Personas non grata" in Age-Restricted Communities

I believe that these kind of restricted communities should have second thoughts about what they call "Successful Age-Restricted Housing Development". Many cases documented on having problems with these restrictions, are found that the most close neighbours are the last ones that have problems with these families with children.

I think community boards could be more tolerant allowing a low percentage of families having children or at least put them under evaluation before they can say: "Remove the child or sell the house within 6 months!". People end up losing their homes because they won't lose their children. I know the reason why this bylaw exists, elderly people have the right to live in peace, in a tranquil environment, but how can they live peacefully when they ask families that cannot afford get other home to throw their children out. I believe that community boards can take a poll on these issues with neighbours as well.

Nick-22- Age restriction: for or against?

  NO BABIES? ARE YOU CRAZY!!?

Today I learned that in Canada they have got age restricted communities. These communities prohibit people below the age of 19   from living with them. We read an article about a family who lives in a restricted community; they have been charged by a 200 dollar per week fine because they have a baby. I think this is completely absurd. All of us were babies to begin with, how can we deny other people the right to have children and live wherever they want as long as they are not disturbing other people's lives?

Whether you are a Christian, a Muslim, an atheist or a Buddhist children are considered holy in your belief. They are pure, cute and they symbolize our beginning. All of us were little babies when we came to this World, how can we reject to be with other babies!? Of course I don't think that everyone should have children and they should live with children all the time, but try to push them away from their neighbourhood? it is just not good.

I don't think that people should be charged just because they have children. Creating a family is what humans do and it's only natural for us to have children. Old people should know this better than we,the younger generation, do!!
