Larissa - 8 - Children & Cellphones

5 good reasons to give your kids a  cellphone.

When it comes to the education of your kids, there is the controversial subject of whether a kid should or should not have a phone and what age should they get one. Here are some reasons to get out of the stone age without letting the leash of your kids too loose.

1 - Teach responsibility

It's a good opportunity to make them learn how to take care of their gadgets and learn social rules to use the phone when the time is appropriate. Also, you can allocate part of their monthly allowance to pay the bill of their phones so they will also learn a lot about finances.

2 - Be in contact

The utility of letting your kids have a phone is that  you can always get in contact with them, anytime, anywhere. You might use that to remind them to do their chores or even to do their homework.

3 - Enjoy family plans

If what worries you most is not the rules but the money, well, there is always a solution because plenty of cellular companies offer attractive family plans so the price is cheaper than having a plan only for yourself. Yes, your children can make you save some money.

4 - Pick the right gadget

If you concerned what phone is appropriate for your kids, take your time to choose a phone that is appropriate for their age and to your budget and while they are growing up reward them with a better version if they follow your rules. Start with the most basic for  the youngest. For example, a phone that can only text and call with no wi-fi available. For teenagers and young adults try a phone which has a limited internet plan, so they can figure out that everything has its limits.

5 - Be safe

Parents are 100% of the time trying to figure out where the kids are or what  they are doing but in order to take  advantage of giving them cell phones as much as you can, you can also install a GPS on your kids phone. It gives you peace of mind and you don't need to worry about them and always make sure they are wherever they need to be.

In the end, a phone for your kid can be a win-win situation because you will have advantages and they will have their independence that they always fight for.
